The Hidden Strength of Women in Hospitality
As a female CEO and business owner in the hospitality industry, I often find myself wearing multiple hats. We pour our hearts into creating memorable experiences for our guests, often at the expense of our own personal moments. It’s not uncommon for us to miss out on special occasions with our children, just to ensure that other mothers and families have a perfect day.
But behind the scenes, the reality can be tough. There are days when customers are rude or dismissive, and it hits hard. Despite our best efforts to bring joy to others, these moments can weigh heavily on our spirits. Yet in true hospitality fashion, we straighten our shoulders, take a breath, and keep smiling, because every guest deserves to feel welcomed and cared for, regardless of what may be unfolding behind the scenes.
In hospitality, we often work through breaks and holidays, pushing ourselves to ensure everyone else's day is seamless. And when things go wrong, staff no-shows due to unforeseen circumstances that cannot be helped, entertainment hiccups, or unexpected issues that arise on the daily, we’re the ones stepping in, often without anyone noticing the extra mile we go.
At the end of the day, we return home exhausted, but we still have to find the energy to be present for our own families. It’s a balancing act of giving our best to others while trying not to lose ourselves in the process.
This journey is challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. We strive to uphold the true values of hospitality, making each guest’s experience special, even if it means making personal sacrifices along the way.
Here’s to the women in hospitality who keep pushing forward, lifting others up, and showing strength and grace behind the scenes. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, and your impact is felt far beyond the dining room floor.
